The Hunger Safety Net Program Cash Transfer Program in Turkana, Kenya
In 2019, more than 2.5 million people in Kenya were at risk of starvation, according to a report from the National Drought Management Authority. The decade old authority established a relief cash transfer program called the Hunger and Safety Net Program in order to aid people in arid and semi-arid areas in Kenya. And amid claims of misappropriation of funds, the National Drought Management Authority says that it is satisfied with its work, but registered beneficiaries of the Hunger Safety Net program in Turkana are not.
